Haters Gonna Hate

Critiques, idiots, lowlifes, trolls, @$$holes…

Whatever you want to call them, bottom line is this…

Haters gonna hate!

Face it, there is always going to be someone who doesn’t like you.

They are going to go out of their way to spread rumors, smack talk your clients, post horrible things on social media, etc.

I’m sure they have their reasons, but sometimes, it just has a tendency to get under your skin more than it should.

Why should their problems take you down?

They shouldn’t…

Why Do People Hate?

No matter how stupid you think haters are, they always have a “good” reason in their mind that makes you the target.

The question becomes, what happens in their heads to make them want to hate you?

Do they just wake up and find your name in the phone book and then decide, “Hey this looks like a great person…let’s ruin their day?”

Although, this may be a possibility sometimes, it is usually highly unlikely.

So usually, they decide to become haters for one of four reasons:

  1. They might have an opposing view that goes against your beliefs and teachings.
  2. Your success is making them look extremely bad.
  3. They couldn’t do it, but you did.
  4. Good intensions, but at the end of the day they really don’t get what you are doing.

Haters Gonna HateUsually in the local world of fitness businesses it comes down to a combination of reasons two and three.

They usually hate on you because your business is doing better than theirs and your clients are happier, PLUS, you are doing something they didn’t have the courage to do themselves.

You took the risk + You are successful = They Hate You

I know its weird math, but deep down you know it’s accurate icon wink Haters Gonna Hate

How to Deal with Haters

No matter their reason they hate you, at some point you are going to have to deal with the criticism.

There are two ways it is going to go down…

One, you are going to use one of the three ways I am going to give you below and you are going to let it roll off your chest and turn it to positive energy.

Two, you are going to do what 95% of people do and let it piss you off and ruin your day.

As Eleanor Roosevelt once said,

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”

I assume you want to take option #1 so let me give you the three best ways to handle the Haters…

1. Motivation

This is where you are doing to take the negative energy and flip it around to positive energy. To do this you need to first, figure out why they hate you. When you figure this out, it will totally make sense why they are saying these things and it will make you feel like you are doing everything right…

Example: If they hate you because you are more successful, then you will take it as a compliment that they are calling you a success. You will choose to hear what they are REALLY saying not the actual words they are using.

2. Chance to Prove Your Credibility

What this means is that every time someone hates on you, you need to take it as a sign of validation that you are better than them or doing something better than they are.

Literally just ignore the words, but take it as a sign of credibility that you are proving yourself.

I have a saying I tell people…

If at least 5 local gyms/trainers do not hate you, you aren’t successful enough.

The more credibility and success you attain the more of a target you become. Be proud of it!

3. Use it as Humor

This is hands down my “go-to” method for handling the haters.

Sometimes I literally have hangouts with my business friends and mentors where we just sit around and compare hater stories.

The laughter is unreal, plus it puts you in a great mood anyway…

Check out this video of how famous celebrities handle their haters on twitter

As you can see, they literally make a joke about their haters.

This does one of two things…

  1. Makes them look like the bigger person and proves that they DO NOT care about what people are saying, they just care about their goals and objectives.
  2. Makes the hater really mad because the person they hate on doesn’t care about them.

Ask yourself, how do you handle these “haters”?

The next time someone drinks the “hateraide” and attempts to take you down, are you going to let them into your head or are you just going to laugh it off and use it as motivation and validation?

I hope this post helps you make the right choice.

Let me know what you think of this and maybe even share a hater story of your own below in the comments section.

I would love to hear your thoughts & stories icon smile Haters Gonna Hate
